Confirmation Preparation
We offer a two consecutive year program for high school students preparing for Confirmation. We expect parents and their families to attend Family classes that are held one time a month in the sanctuary. This year we will be following the Chosen program. We are also expecting each candidate family to be connected to a ministry to learn about and be participating in service opportunities connected within their chosen ministry. We hope all parents and their families work together with our catechists to make this time a significant moment in the lives of our children and young people in the parish. We are committed to our motto, "Faith is a lifelong journey." In other words, CONFIRMATION IS NOT GRADUATION! It is just the beginning.
In the celebration of the Mass, the candidates are reminded of their Baptism. The bishop annoints the head of the candidate and proclaims his/her saint's name to remind the candidate that his/her particular saint will be a spiritual role model for his/her life.
We promote a sacramental preparation rooted in family life, supported by classroom catechesis and celebrated with the church community.
We start to prepare students for Confirmation when they reach the ninth grade. The student is confirmed in the tenth grade.
