PASTORAL MINISTRIES
Communion to the Sick and the Homebound
Bring Holy Communion to the sick and the elderly at their homes or nursing homes usually on Sundays. They inform the priest if anyone they have visited needs the Sacraments of Confession and the Anointing of the Sick.

Prayer Shawls and Blankets Ministry (inactive)
Pray and provide shawls and/or blankets to comfort and console the sick and the elderly.

Provides support to the immediate family members of our parish who have lost a loved one through death. Most often a meal or food is offered to the family either at the parish or brought to the homes.

High School Faith Formation Ministry
Provides activities and opportunities for an ongoing catholic Christian formation for our youth in high school.

For Children/Youth with Special Needs Class
This class is for students with special needs. We offer both regular religious education and sacrament preparation classes for these students.

RCIC: Rite of Christian Initiation for Children/Youth
Provides instruction to children, seven years old and above, and prepares them to be baptized. Also to those children, baptized as infants or at a very young age, had not been catechized, and to prepare them to receive their First Eucharist and Confirmation.

RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

“Familia Educadora en la Fe “(Family, Evangelizer for the Family)
Catechesis in a family environment on Wednesday evenings; read from the Bible and share reflections. They organize retreats for the members of the group and for the Hispanic members of the parish. They have a group of married couples who meet every other Friday in their homes to study from the Bible and other topics. They have a group for the children, the teens, and the young adults with their respective themes to study.

Legion of Mary Our Lady of Grace Praesidium
A worldwide church organization with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Promote the praying of the rosary and bring the Pilgrim Statue of the Blessed Mother to families in their homes. They visit the sick and the elderly in their homes or in assisted living facilities.

Our Mother of Perpetual Help Novena Group
Mostly Filipino parishioners of Sacred Heart but is open to all parishioners who meet every Wednesday at 6 pm to pray the Rosary and the novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe/Novena a Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe
To prepare for the annual Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12, a nine-day celebration of the Mass and reflections on the apparitions of the Blessed Mother to Juan Diego (now a saint) are held mostly for our Hispanic parishioners. A group called “the Matachines” perform an Azteca dance in honor of Our Lady.

“Simbang Gabi Masses” (Early Dawn Masses)
A very popular Catholic tradition of celebrating Masses for each of the nine days before the feast of Christmas; most of our Filipino parishioners organize and celebrate this novena. It is mainly a Filipino Catholic tradition introduced in the Philippines by missionaries from Spain.

Celebration for the “Quinceneras”
A Mass is celebrated in thanksgiving when a young person, usually a girl, reaches the age of fifteen. This is a very festive and important tradition celebrated usually by Hispanic families.
