Q: Won't the historic church fall apart when you move it?
A: The historic church will be moved by a professional company specializing in these types of moves. Expertise and great caution will be exercised.
Q: Why are we moving the historic church?
A: We must recall that Sacred Heart Church parish did not own the 9 acres to the west of the historic church when it was moved to our present location in the 1990s. Moving the historic church to the front of our campus allows better utilization of our 24 acres of land. This will make the historic church the centerpiece of our campus in a prominent location at the entrance to our campus.
Q: How much is the new church going to cost?
A:As we have not finalized plans for the new church building, the exact cost is unknown currently. The new church building is planned to seat 800 with a 16,000 square-foot footprint. We will know the cost of the new church building once we are in PHASE TW0 (2) of our expansion project.
Q: How much money are we trying to raise?
A: A very good question. As of February 28, 2018 we have almost $2.8 MM available. We certainly would need much more to move on to phase 2 which is the construction of the new church building.
This being said, we encourage every one to honor their pledge commitments to "Our Past, Our Present, Our Future Campaign", donate monthly to our Expansion Fund second collection, to Giving Day and other fundraisers to come. We are grateful to those who continuosly give generously.
Q:How are you going to protect the stain glass windows in the historic church during its move?
A: These stain glass windows are of utmost significance. We will ensure their safety during the moving of the historic church. Again we will rely on the knowledge and expertise of the right company to do so and with extra care and precaution needed. it will be moved about 300 feet down to its proposed new location in our campus.
